so much to do...

Which in itself is not a bad thing but I just wish that there was more time in a week. I've got to continue working on an online course that I'm (trying) to build and call up some clients for follow-up but then there's the house. There will be pictures...one day. Just not today. I keep meaning to bring the camera up when I take things up there but then, I forget. Being a simpleton, I also forget that my mobile phone has a camera, too - yup, just that 'clever' LOL.

Much applause to Sara, who correctly guessed the locale of our new abode *clap, clap, clap*. Sara, what's your favorite color?

For those of you beyond the boundaries of our little county, we're moving to its namesake village of Lanark! Much quieter than rowdy old Mississippi Mills and we're looking forward to quiet evenings spent on our wrap-around porch, butts planted in a pair of wicker chairs and knitting needles in hand (well, for me, at least). Add a glass of wine (or 8) and we'll be back to our standard. I've got to move a ton of plants (AGAIN!) but it's all good - I do love to plan a garden. Just can't wait to move all of my wild roses :)

I want some of your bright ideas for window treatments and wall colors. A friend of mine who's an interior designer is coming up later this week to give me some advice, too. I'm thinking about doing a lot of roman blinds, like I did for this house. They're energy efficient and cover windows well without hiding old woodwork. This time, I think I'll use lighter-weight fabrics in prints (not solids, like in this house). The big question(s?) are the 2 sets of French doors in our family room - drapes? Long blinds? What to, what to do???

The big move should be in 2 weeks so we've got lots of time to pack, plan and think out everything. The best part is my new office is huge! I'm assuming the former parlour, right at the front of the house so that clients don't have to walk through the entire house to get 'there'. It's a sunny room, facing onto the front porch with lots of natural light. The whole house, apart from the dining room is light-filled and it has great energy.

I'd better keep packing ;)

I'm so, so excited for you!! I am ALWAYS looking at houses (I must drive my husband bonkers) even though I love the home we're in. It's growing so much where we live now that I keep thinking I'd like to move further into the boonies. Sigh.

Favourite colour? hmmm anything like orange, yellow, green....not really a blue person...

Happy packing!

Ah thanks :)
I totally understand the need to move away from growing neighborhoods. Our town is getting rowdy (just ask me about the street fight that I stopped - yeah, not what I'm used to LOL) so I can really relate. In my wildest teenage dreams, I never thought that I'd relish the "boonies" ha ha ha

Thanks!!! I can't wait to share them, either - the house is super-cute. We had some friends over the other day and one of them told me that they thought that it looked like a little doll's house. I don't know whether that's good... ;)

Ah-ha! I am glad you are back posting and feeling better!

I wouldn't dare suggest anything for window coverings - I can't even choose paint colour for my baseboards.

The new house sounds great - and when you get your pictures up I will probably pour over them and imagine myself drinking something slushy on the porch.

There's plenty of room on the porch so c'mon down - slushy drinks all around.
cheers!

You know, I've been contemplating plantation shutters. They are an investment, but with kids, I am finding that curtains suck. And get really dusty and dirty and I like the lines of shutters like those. Congrats on your move. Would not want to be in the moving shoes right now though.

It's amazing, Minx - I've definately gotta get that one onto the sticks!!!

I'd love shutters but these windows are over 70" tall- so very, very expensive...*sigh* a girl can dream, though ;)

Hey sweetie. Great to see you back online and to hear that you're moving to a wee piece of Scotland but not quite in Scotland :D
I'm just back online after our Disney expedition - yes I am exhausted ;)

Oh I have got to hear about the trip!!!!I'll bet that there are a pair of young ladies who are pretty tired, too LOL. Hugging Mickey and Goofy can really take a lot out of a little person.

There's a lot of Scotland all around here because of the crofters who landed here, looking for a safe haven. When I drive up to the house today, I'll pass at least 3 Scottish flags, too as I drive into the Highlands. It's pretty special to be surrounded with Canadian (and Scottish) history - and they told me that my life as a historian would be wasted in farm country ha ha ha One day, I may even get to see other (real) Lanark ;)
